Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and level. Remove any old adhesive or debris. In bathrooms, apply a waterproof membrane over the substrate before tiling.
Dry-fit tiles from the centre of the room outward before applying adhesive. This ensures balanced cuts at the edges and symmetrical patterns, especially important for smaller bathroom spaces.
Use a notched trowel to apply waterproof tile adhesive suitable for wet areas. Work in small sections (1–2 sq m) to prevent the adhesive from drying before placement.
Press tiles firmly with a slight twist. Use spacers for consistent joint width. Allow adhesive to cure for 24 hours before grouting with a water-resistant grout.
Apply appropriate waterproof sealant, especially on natural stone or porous tiles. Buff clean and allow full cure before use (typically 48–72 hours).
